"A Look at the Future of American Journalism with the Leadership of Philadelphia Media Network"

Join PPRA as we celebrate another successful programming year! We will recognize the winners of the 2017 PPRA Fast-Track and Dr. Jean Brodey Student Achievement Awards. We will then thank our outgoing president Ashley Berke and the 2016-2017 Board of Governors. We will also induct our incoming president Adam Dvorin and the 2017-2018 Board of Governors.

In addition, we will conduct an armchair discussion about new journalism models in the United States -- live from the city where a new model is being implemented.

KYW Newsradio’s Pat Loeb will serve as moderator for the session. We will hear from Terrance C.Z. Egger, Publisher and CEO of the Philadelphia Media Network, and Gabriel Escobar, editor of the Philadelphia Media Network's three media properties -- the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and

Last year, H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest created a new nonprofit/for-profit hybrid structure called the Lenfest Institute for Journalism when he donated the Philadelphia Media Network and $20 million under the auspices of The Philadelphia Foundation. The institute intends to sustain and grow journalism in Philadelphia, and elsewhere, by supporting public-interest journalism, digital experimentation, and research.
Could the Philadelphia experiment inform journalism throughout the nation? This is the question we will explore during the program.

Also, bring your gently used office clothes to donate to Career Wardrobe, a social enterprise that uses clothing and professional development to empower individuals to work. All year, PPRA has been working with Career Wardrobe through our Philly PRoactive program to shed light on the important work they are doing in our community.

Finally, we will get to experience new event space by Brûlée Catering, Liberty Hall inside the recently opened Museum of the American Revolution -- a venue that has earned national acclaim from outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and CBS News.
