Innovative, passionate, ambitious, and meticulous are four characteristics that qualify Scott Barnes as a talented and respected professional in the dynamic field of public relations and special events. A Philadelphia suburban native, Barnes graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Widener University.
With an extensive background in the hospitality industry, Barnes has managed food and beverage operations at private country clubs, as well as planned campus-wide and industry events for The Restaurant School in Philadelphia. Barnes was a key ingredient to the catering and event planning division of Feastivities Events. Prior to his return to Feastivities in 2009 as the Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Barnes was an integral part of the public relations powerhouse Cashman & Associates.
With an innate flair for fashion and a love of all things luxurious, Barnes is or has been the mastermind behind events for high-profile clients such as Bloomingdales, BMW, Cartier, David Yurman, Kate Spade, LVMH Fashion Group, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Philadelphia magazine, Philadelphia Phillies, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sofitel Hotels, The Academy of Music, The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, The Rittenhouse Hotel and Tipper Gore.
Barnes has been recognized as Philadelphia’s Event Planner of the Year by the International Special Events Society, and has received both the CATIE Award and STAR Award from the International Caterers Association. Barnes was recently named the Male Rising Star of the special events industry. He received a Spotlight Award from Event Solutions magazine for showing great promise of becoming an industry leader or major player in the years to come.
Barnes has been active with numerous organizations. He is a member of the Philadelphia Public Relations Society, International Special Events Society and on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Gay Tourism Caucus. Barnes also volunteers his time and expertise with the Caron Treatment Centers, Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, Fashion Group International, Ronald McDonald House and the Human Rights Campaign. In 2007, Barnes was appointed to the 150th Academy of Music Concert and Ball’s Young Friends Committee.
Barnes has presented at several national industry conferences, as well as lectures at Widener University, Temple University, and The Restaurant School on event planning and related topics.
