Philly PRoactive

Established in 2009 under past PPRA president and philanthropist Dr. Bill Cowen, PPRA’s Philly PRoactive program helps extend the good work of worthy organizations. Each year, a new nonprofit benefits from the support of PPRA’s members who lend their time and talents as public relations professionals.

This year PPRA is partnering with ArtWell, a nonprofit founded to respond to the chronic community violence in Philadelphia by introducing a preventive, educational, arts-oriented approach to reach underserved communities and youth facing discrimination, poverty, violence, and the everyday challenges of growing up. Their mission is to support young people and their communities through multidisciplinary arts expression, education, and creative reflection to celebrate their strengths, thrive while facing complex challenges, and awaken their dreams.

Want to get involved?

Throughout the year, we will be collecting school supplies to create ArtWell at Home kits to ensure that students are able to continue their creativity outside of the classroom and in their home. Items for donation include:

  • Loose leaf paper
  • Kid-safe scissors
  • Glue sticks
  • Crayons (Boxes of 24)
  • Markers (Packs of 8)
  • Construction paper / patterned paper
  • Magazines for collages

We are also looking to our membership to help ArtWell with marketing and promotional materials. If you have graphic design experience and you're interested in getting involved, please email briannarooney27@gmail.com.

I have supplies! Where can I drop off my donations?

  • Bring your supplies to any PPRA-sponsored event and drop them off at the check-in table
  • Donations can also be dropped off at any PPRA board meeting
  • Email briannarooney27@gmail.com to coordinate a special drop off/ pick up
