Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and NBC10’s Rosemary Connors
are scheduled to salute the organization.
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA) will kick-off its 75th anniversary year as the premier organization for communications professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area at its Annual Meeting Celebration on Thursday, June 13, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at MakeOffices, 1635 Market Street, Suite #1600. The event will highlight milestones in the organization’s history and look ahead to an even more promising future.
Rosemary Connors, Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter for NBC10 Philadelphia, will serve as keynote speaker for the event. Connors will discuss the relationship between journalists and PR professionals and how the two can better work together to empower communities. Connors is the third generation of women in her family to report the news in Philadelphia and will share some of the stories that have shaped her career. Special guest Mayor Jim Kenney, 99th mayor of Philadelphia, will welcome guests and discuss how public relations practitioners help city communications.
The Annual Meeting will also feature a salute to outgoing President Nina Scimenes, the induction of the 2019-2020 Board of Governors, and the winners of the 2019 Fast Track and Dr. Jean Brodey Achievement awards. Deirdre Hopkins, director of public relations at VISIT PHILADELPHIA®, will be installed as president.

In addition to the Annual Meeting, the 2019-20 PPRA program year will include special events and programs to commemorate 75 years as the premier organization for communications professionals in the Delaware Valley.
